What is the Data Catalog?
The Data Catalog Domain focuses on developing and maintaining essential data solutions for Huntsville Center’s Data Strategy, also known as the Data Pyramid. This includes creating Power BI Dataflows to extract data from various systems, building Power BI Semantic Models to unify tables into comprehensive data models, and developing dashboards tailored to specific user groups. These dashboards—Command, Leadership, Project, and Project Delivery Team—provide critical insights and operational data to support informed decision-making.
What are Custom Applications?
Applications are developed to address gaps in data collection and workflow management by creating tools for staff to input data when no authoritative source exists. This involves developing Power Apps applications for data entry and workflow management, setting up SharePoint Lists for data storage and management, and implementing Power Automate functions to streamline operations. Additionally, user guides are created to ensure ease of use and adoption, providing clear instructions for end-users.

How does the BIO support the Huntsville Staff
The office has personnel that specializes in operating the PROMIS Project Management Information System, an Oracle Primavera system, to support Project Managers and Specialists. This includes hosting open office hours, debugging issues, and providing training on system operations. The group also executes a data governance strategy to ensure compliance with the latest data requirements and develops Project Data Management Plans to capture and maintain accurate data for project execution.
