Huntsville Center awards task orders for energy savings performance contracting project at Rock Island Arsenal, Ill.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, Dec. 27 awarded two task orders to Honeywell of Morris Township, N.J., for work to be performed at Rock Island Arsenal, Ill.

The task orders, valued at $39.2 million and $22.1 million, are for boiler improvements, finishing line modernization, painting modernization, compressed air upgrades, sewer conservation upgrades, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, and EMCS improvements and sewer conservation upgrades.  The period of performance for the task orders is 24 years.

This project is expected to cut energy use by approximately 35 percent, and generate up to $5.3 million in annual energy and operational savings.

Energy Savings Performance Contracting leverages industry expertise and private sector financing to make infrastructure upgrades to federal facilities to reduce energy and water consumption and reduce waste stream.

The Huntsville Center is the Corps of Engineers’ Center of Expertise for ESPC.
