The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville furnished the Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District’s new six-story headquarters in downtown Mobile.

The old Martin Army Community Hospital, built in 1958 at Fort Benning, Georgia, was razed in late February. However, there is still work to be done and the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center Huntsville (Huntsville Center) Facility Reduction Program (FRP) is continuing site restoration. After project completion, the hospital site will be reused as a transportation hub connecting Fort Benning to a regional transportation network.

The changes will affect 10 programs at Huntsville Center and one program operated external to Huntsville Center, all of which provides technical, specialized, and non-geographic support to military and federal agencies around the world.

The $3 billion MATOC IV is set to help modernize aging Department of Defense facilities and infrastructure by reducing utility and maintenance costs via third party financing that utilizes private capital to make infrastructure improvements without tapping into an installation’s budget.
