• Center releases request for proposals for Fort Campbell solar project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville released a request for proposals April 8 for a 3.1MW Solar array Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) on Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The PPA will complete the installation’s requirement for a 5MW solar array.
  • Major revision to regulation outlining acquisition, sales of utilities published

    The revision to Army Regulation 420-41, Acquisition and Sale of Utilities Services, released March 3 goes into effect April 3. The extensive revision and update comes as significant changes in energy policy and technology have evolved over the past 20 years since the regulation was last revised in 1990.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Department of Energy’s Federal Energy Management Program developed a partnership to help drive down the federal government’s energy costs through the government-wide adoption of performance contracting processes.
  • Contracts awarded for facilities reduction work

    The U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, awarded contracts to 12 businesses Feb. 6 as part of a multiple award task order contract (MATOC) that will be used to demolish excess facilities on military installations. The overall value of the MATOC is $48 million for a base year and four option years estimated at $9.6 million each.
  • Contracts awarded for medical facility maintenance

    Huntsville Center awarded contracts to 10 companies to provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services at government medical and related non-medical facilities. The $990 million medical facilities O&M multiple award task order contract (MATOC) will allow the Operations and Maintenance Engineering Enhancement (OMEE) Program at Huntsville Center to continue to support Department of Defense medical facilities throughout the Military Health System with their highly specialized O&M requirements.

    Huntsville Center, working with the U.S. Army Office of Energy Initiatives and the U.S. Army Garrison - Redstone Arsenal, issued a notice of intent to award to Sunpower Corporation today for a solar facility on Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, capable of producing up to 18,000 megawatt-hours/year of on-site renewable energy.

  • Huntsville Center’s newest deputy commander in place

    Huntsville Center's newest deputy commander, Lt. Col. Kendall Bergmann, assumed the position Aug. 11. Bergmann came to Huntsville Center from the St. Paul District and was deployed to Afghanistan in support of the Transatlantic Afghanistan District as the Area Officer in Charge (OIC) for Regional Command North and Regional Command East.
