    Initial Outfitting and Transition program equips Fort Hood hospital

    The Huntsville Center Initial Outfitting and Transition program played a major role in equipping the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Centerat Fort Hood, Texas. With the completion of the $90 million Fort Hood IO&T services and equipment procurement contract to Military Healthcare Outfitting and Transition (MilHOT) in 2012, the hospital opened April 3.

  • Soldiers Plaza building 2602, a World War II wood building used most recently as an administrative building, is demolished at Fort Benning, Georgia, under the Facilities Reduction Program, U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville. This is one of 31 World War II wood buildings within the Soldiers Plaza that has been demolished to reduce the installation's footprint by removing excess infrastructure from its real property inventory.

    Huntsville Center participates in local science fair

    U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville participated in the First Baptist Child Development Center & Academy science fair March 17. Six volunteers judged more than 95 group and individual projects that were created by students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

    Two task orders awarded to Honeywell Building Solutions by Huntsville Center to perform civil works projects for the Pittsburgh District and Humphreys Engineer Center Support Activity are 11 months ahead of schedule and exceed the Army’s President’s Performance Contracting Challenge goal of $12 million in energy-efficiency performance contracts at federal facilities through 2016.

    Workers stage washers and dryers prior to delivering them to a U.S. Army Cadet Command barracks laundry rooms at Fort Knox, Kentucky. Two Huntsville Center Furnishings Program contracts, valued at more than $5.8 million, filled more than 400 rooms in 14 buildings with the beds and mattresses, chests, wardrobes and other furnishings used by more than 8,000 cadets during Cadet Summer Training, the largest single source of new officers for the Army.

The civil engineer and administrative contracting officer at the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville, is also a competitive pistol shooter ranked in the top 15 percent of classified shooters in the U.S. Practical Shooting Association (USPSA).

  • Lynn Daniels received an award July 20, 2015, from Col. Robert Ruch, U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center, Huntsville commander, recognizing her as the Huntsville Center Project Manager of the Year. Daniels, a virtual project manager from Seattle District, provides full-time support for the Huntsville Center’s Facilities Reduction Program. In 2014, she managed projects on eight military installations from Georgia to Alaska, removing 2.8 million square feet of real property (217 facilities) for $22.7 million.
